Invoicing and e-invoicing in Kuwait: what to know

Kuwait does not currently apply VAT, and published guidance describes no national e-invoicing requirement. That is the position as we understand it today, and it could change, so this page tells you what to check and what is worth keeping in order whatever happens.

Where Kuwait stands

Commentary describes Kuwait as one of the few Gulf countries that has not introduced VAT, and as having no national e-invoicing mandate. Both are for the government to decide and announce, and the sources that describe them are not official ones.

So do not rely on this page, or on any article, for the current rules. Ask the Ministry of Finance or your accountant, and treat any date or rate you read elsewhere with care until you see it from an official source.

What is worth keeping in order anyway

Good records help a business whatever the tax rules are, and they make any later change easier.

  • Give every customer a full record: legal name, address and commercial licence number
  • Number invoices in sequence with no gaps or repeats you cannot explain
  • Link every credit note to the invoice it corrects
  • Keep payment records against the invoice they settle
  • Keep invoices, credit notes and supporting documents organised and backed up

How TAQNIX ERP helps

TAQNIX ERP numbers invoices in sequence, prints in Arabic and English, works in dinars with three decimals, tracks which invoices are paid and issues credit notes against the original. It does not file returns for you, it is not an accredited e-invoicing provider, and no Kuwait e-invoicing add-on is listed.

Common questions

Does TAQNIX ERP file tax returns in Kuwait?

No. TAQNIX ERP keeps your invoice and payment records tidy, and you or your accountant deal with the Ministry of Finance for anything the Ministry requires.

Where do I check the current position?

Ask the Ministry of Finance, or your accountant, who will know of any announcement. Do not rely on a third-party article for a date or a rate.
