Oman e-invoicing (Fawtara): what it means for your ERP
Oman is moving business invoices to structured electronic data through its Fawtara programme. This page explains the model and what a business should prepare, without dates you would have to trust us on.
How Fawtara works
Fawtara is run by the Oman Tax Authority. Published guides describe a model based on the Peppol approach: invoices are issued as structured XML in an Omani format and routed through service providers accredited by the authority, instead of being emailed as PDFs.
Your ERP creates the invoice data. An accredited provider validates it and delivers it onward.
Rollout and dates
The requirement is being introduced in phases, starting with the largest taxpayers. The schedule has been revised and older guides still quote earlier dates, so we do not repeat any. Check the Oman Tax Authority for the decision that applies to you, or ask your accountant.
What to prepare now
These steps help under any timeline.
- Clean customer and supplier records with legal names and VAT registration numbers.
- Consistent tax treatment on every invoice line, with amounts to three decimals.
- Sequential invoice numbers, and credit notes linked to the invoice they correct.
- A shortlist of accredited providers to talk to once the authority publishes the list.
Where TAQNIX fits
TAQNIX ERP creates your invoices and credit notes with five percent VAT in Omani rials. The TAQNIX shop lists a UAE e-invoicing add-on; we are not listing an Oman e-invoicing add-on at the moment. Ask us for the current position before you commit to a timeline.

Common questions
Is TAQNIX an accredited e-invoicing provider in Oman?
No. TAQNIX makes the invoices. Sending and validation go through a provider accredited by the Oman Tax Authority.
Does Fawtara apply to small businesses?
Scope depends on the authority's decisions for each phase. Check the Oman Tax Authority or ask your accountant instead of relying on a general answer.
