Invoicing and e-invoicing in Qatar: what to know
Qatar does not currently apply VAT, and a draft e-invoicing law has been reported but is not in force. That is the position as we understand it today, and it could change, so this page tells you what to check and what is worth keeping in order whatever happens.
Where Qatar stands
Commentary describes Qatar as one of the few Gulf countries that has not yet introduced VAT. It also reports that a draft e-invoicing law has been approved at Cabinet level but is not in force, and that technical details and timing are still to come. All of it is for the government to decide and announce, and the sources that describe it are not official ones.
So do not rely on this page, or on any article, for the current rules. Ask the General Tax Authority or your accountant, and treat any date or rate you read elsewhere with care until you see it from an official source.
What is worth keeping in order anyway
Good records help a business whatever the tax rules are, and they make any later change easier.
- Give every customer a full record: legal name, address and commercial licence number
- Number invoices in sequence with no gaps or repeats you cannot explain
- Link every credit note to the invoice it corrects
- Keep payment records against the invoice they settle
- Keep invoices, credit notes and supporting documents organised and backed up
How TAQNIX ERP helps
TAQNIX ERP numbers invoices in sequence, prints in Arabic and English, works in riyals with two decimals, tracks which invoices are paid and issues credit notes against the original. It does not file returns for you, it is not an accredited e-invoicing provider, and no Qatar e-invoicing add-on is listed.

Common questions
Does TAQNIX ERP file tax returns in Qatar?
No. TAQNIX ERP keeps your invoice and payment records tidy, and you or your accountant deal with the General Tax Authority for anything the Authority requires.
Where do I check the current position?
