UAE e-invoicing (PINT AE): what it means for your ERP

The UAE is moving business invoices from PDFs and paper to structured data exchanged through accredited providers. This page explains the model in plain terms and what a business should prepare.

How the UAE system works

The Ministry of Finance runs the national e-invoicing programme. Invoices and credit notes are issued as structured data in the PINT AE format, which is based on the Peppol standard, and they travel through an Accredited Service Provider (ASP) rather than by email as a PDF.

The Federal Tax Authority continues to administer VAT. In practice your ERP creates the invoice data, and your ASP validates it and delivers it to your customer's provider.

Rollout and dates

The requirement is being introduced in phases, with larger businesses first. Published dates have changed and different guides quote different ones, so we do not repeat any here. Check the Ministry of Finance e-invoicing pages, or ask your accountant which phase applies to your business.

What to prepare now

These steps help under any timeline, because structured invoices depend on clean data.

  • Clean customer records: legal names, addresses and Tax Registration Numbers.
  • The right tax treatment on every invoice line.
  • Sequential invoice numbers, and credit notes linked to the invoice they correct.
  • A decision on which Accredited Service Provider you will use.

Where TAQNIX fits

TAQNIX ERP creates your invoices and credit notes. For the PINT AE data, TAQNIX publishes a UAE E-Invoicing add-on for Odoo 19 Community that prepares PINT AE XML for your Accredited Service Provider, with readiness checks and validation. It is not itself an Accredited Service Provider.

Check the add-on's current version and requirements in the TAQNIX shop, and ask us whether it suits your setup before you plan around it.

Common questions

Is TAQNIX an Accredited Service Provider?

No. TAQNIX prepares the invoice data. Sending and validation go through an Accredited Service Provider that you choose.

Do free-zone companies need e-invoicing?

Scope depends on the Ministry of Finance rules for your business type and size. Check with the Ministry or your accountant rather than relying on a general answer.
