Point of sale in Dubai
Point of sale software for shops and cafes in Dubai
Business in Dubai is shaped by wholesale and re-export trade, free-zone company activity and a busy retail and commercial market. For a shop or cafe counter, that decides what the till has to do all day. TAQNIX ERP gives your counter a fast cashier screen, receipts that show 5% VAT in Arabic and English, cash and card payments and a daily closing, on the same books as your invoices and purchases.
Why counters in Dubai are different
Wholesale and re-export trade
Wholesale counters ring up many small cash sales next to large credit orders. The point of sale should handle both without a second system.
Free-zone company activity
Free-zone companies often sell to other businesses as well as to walk-in customers, so the counter and the invoice desk should share one customer list and one set of books.
A busy retail and commercial market
On a busy retail street every second saved at the till shortens the queue, and a clear receipt cuts disputes.
What the point of sale does at your counter
Receipts and totals are in UAE dirhams, with the VAT shown as its own amount.
A fast cashier screen
Pick items and take payment in a few taps, so the queue keeps moving at your busiest hour.
Receipts that show the VAT
Every receipt shows 5% VAT clearly and prints in Arabic, English or both.
Cash and card
Record whether each sale was paid in cash or by card.
A daily closing
Close the day and see the cash and card takings added up, ready for review.
Credit notes for returns
Correct a returned sale with a credit note against the original, not by editing the receipt.
Purchases from suppliers
Raise purchase orders to your suppliers and keep their bills with them.
The cashier screen
Ring up sales at the counter, take cash or card and print the receipt. Built for shops and cafes.

The pictures come from a design prototype of the Saudi edition: amounts are in SAR, VAT is 15% and some panels mention ZATCA. ZATCA does not apply in the UAE; the edition for the UAE is set up for 5% VAT.

Point of sale questions from Dubai
Does TAQNIX ERP print receipts that show VAT for a shop in Dubai?
Yes. Receipts show the 5% VAT as its own amount. The details a receipt or tax invoice must carry are set by the tax authority, so confirm them with the authority or your accountant.
Can the receipts be in Arabic and English for customers in Dubai?
Yes. Receipts print in Arabic, English or both, so a tourist and a local regular can each read theirs.
How does the daily closing work?
At the end of the day you close the day and see the cash and card takings added up. Compare them with what is in the drawer and the card machine before you leave.
Which payment methods can I record at the counter?
Cash and card. Each sale records how it was paid, so the closing can total each method separately.
Do I need an internet connection at the counter?
TAQNIX ERP runs on your own Mac and opens in your browser. Everyday invoicing and reports do not need an internet connection.
General information, not legal or tax advice. Confirm rules with the authority or your accountant.
