Amounts are in Bahraini dinar (BHD).

In Bahrain, as one commentary describes the rule for employees outside the social insurance scheme, the indemnity is 15 days of basic wage for each of the first three years and a month for each year after that, with a ceiling of two years of pay in some descriptions. Bahraini nationals are generally covered by social insurance instead. Confirm the figure with the Labour Market Regulatory Authority or your lawyer.

Based on the last basic wage only. Allowances, bonuses and overtime are not included.

How to use it

  1. Enter the first and last day of work.
  2. Enter the monthly basic wage from the contract, without allowances.
  3. Read the estimate and the rule behind it. Confirm the final figure with the Labour Market Regulatory Authority or your lawyer.

Common questions

Is gratuity worked out on the full salary?

No. It is based on the basic wage, the figure in the contract before allowances. Housing, transport and other allowances are not counted in this estimate.

Can I rely on this figure for a final settlement?

Treat it as an estimate. A contract or settlement agreement can be more generous than the law, and the rules are revised from time to time. Confirm the figure with the Labour Market Regulatory Authority, your lawyer or your HR team before you pay or sign.
